Una pequeña mezcla de todo……. / A little mix of everything.........

 



 

Buenos dias! El post de hoy es una pequeña mezcla de tema, tutorial y algo personal.

 

Good morning!, today’s post is a little mix of topic, tutorial and something personal.

 

El sábado pasado mi madre, que está muy enferma del corazón, se encontraba mal y la llevamos al hospital. Después de muchas pruebas la ingresaron (afortunadamente ya está en casa desde el martes por la tarde). Esa primera noche me quedé yo con ella así como todo el lunes. Cualquiera que haya estado cuidando a otra persona en el hospital sabe que lo largas que pueden ser las horas en un hospital cuidando a alguien así que aproveché la noche del sábado para descoser unos hexágonos que había hecho siguiendo la técnica de “English paper piecing”. No me aclaraba a coserlos por lo que intenté otra forma de coserlos que había visto meses atrás en Quilts etc.. (os recomiendo que visitéis el blog de Karen). A la mañana siguiente, a pesar de no haber dormido, me fui a casa y entre otras cosas lavé los hexágonos y los planché para marcarlos y coserlos con su técnica (gracias Karen!).

 

Last Saturday my mother, who has a serious heart condition, wasn’t feeling well so we took her to hospital. After many medical tests she was admitted to the hospital (luckily she’s already home since Tuesday afternoon). That first night I stayed with her and so on Monday. Anyone who had stayed in hospital taking care of another person knows how long hours can be there so I made the most of Saturday night unpicking some hexies I had done following the technique of “English paper piecing”. I didn’t manage to sew them so I tried another way I had seen months ago in Quilts etc.. (I recommend you to visit Karen’s blog). The following morning, in spite of not having slept, I went home and apart from doing other things I washed and ironed them to mark them and sew them with her technique (thanks Karen!).

 

El lunes me llevé al hospital varios cuadrados, triángulos y rombos que tenía cortados en tela vaquera y de florecitas y como ya mi madre se sentía mejor aproveché un rato que se levantó de la cama para extenderlos por su cama e intentar hacerme una idea de la disposición para coserlas. En su habitación mi madre tenía una caja de pañuelos de papel vacia que reutilicé como alfiletero y papelera para los hilitos. Os pongo un par de fotos para que veáis. ¿Porqué os cuento todo esto? porque desgraciadamente entre el año pasado y este he pasado muchas horas de hospital cuidando a mis padres y hacer patchwork o alguna labor en esos momentos siempre me ha ayudado a mantenerme despierta, con la mente parcialmente en otro sitio y haciendo algo que me gusta que dadas las circunstancias del momento os recomiendo hacer porque de verdad ayuda. On Monday I took to hospital several squares, triangles and diamonds who I had already cut in jeans and flowery fabric and as my mother was feeling a little better I made the most of a while she got up from bed to spread out them on her bed trying to have an idea of the layout to sew them. In her room my mother had an empty tissue box which I reused as a pincushion and thread trash. I’m showing you a couple of photos. Why am I telling you all this? Because unfortunately during last year and this year I have spent many many hours taking care of my parents in hospital rooms and quilting or doing some sewing, knitting, crochetting have always helped me to keep awake, with my mind partly focused in another thing and doing something which I really like even in those circumstances I recommend you to do because it really helps.
