Tutorial: La única y verdadera receta de la paella valenciana/ The original and only paella valenciana recipe

Good morning! today it really is tutorial day in the blog but I have a little surprise for you, today I'm giving you a food tutorial: the original and only paella valenciana recipe.

www.albertofortes60.blogspot.com.es

In Valencia, my region, we have three traditional crops (among others) which are: rice (with which we make the Valencian paella), the chufa (the tuber with which we make the refreshing drink called horchata) and oranges.

Here you'd be able to read a little bit about the origin of the chufa's horchata and how it can be made: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horchata. And now let's go right to the recipe:

Ingredientes para 4 personas/ Ingredients for 4 people:

- 400 grs arroz/rice
- 800 grs pollo/chicken
I've never tasted rabbit and don't think I'd like it so you can add more chicken to the recipe)
- 200 grs judías verdes/green beans
- 100 grs de garrofón /white beans
- 100 grs de tomate rallado/grated tomatoes
- 1.2 l de agua/water
- 100-125 ml aceite de oliva/olive oil
- 1 cucharada sopera de pimentón/1 tbsp paprika
- 1 cucharadita de azafrán/1 teaspoon of saffron

About the way of making it I've found this video in the youtube that although is in Spanish I think it's easy to follow by the images. This weekend I invite you to buy all necessary things to make it and in less than an hour you'll enjoy a healthy, complete, easy to make and delicious meal. Try it, you won't regret it!

Tutorial: 10 formas creativas de colgar cuadros / 10 creative ways to hang artwork

Good morning and have a nice feast wednesday to all Valencians (today is Saint Joseph, patron saint of Valencia and big feast day due to the Fallas, our annual local feasts). Happy saint day Josephs and Mary Josephs who might be reading me!. To all of you how is this week we're halfway through been going? Fine, I hope. Are you a do-it-yourself person? are you as good at it as me? I hope not because I'm terrible at it! jajaja. I have lately discovered, in the nearest hardware store to my home, a "gadget" to hang artwork you don't even need a hammer and is able to hold up even 16 kg-pictures!!! so at the moment the problem "hanging artwork" is solved for me. Today I suggest you the 10 creative ways to hang artwork the web burlapandblue.com recommend. I hope you find it useful if you "like" do-it-yourself as much as I do uysssss

De cine, cremas y colonias / About cinema, facial creams and cologne

Good morning! Today I'd like to talk about several things: about cinema, about facial creams/beauty and about a lemon cologne test I did, several things jajaja.

About cinema: some weeks ago I went to see the film "August". In my opinion it's a very good film although it's about difficult family relationships but Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and the other actresses and actors performances are fantastic. I recommend it to you.

About facial creams/beauty: Last sunday Vanessa (secretary in another office and who I know for some years now) invited me to a Mary Kay beauty meeting. I don´t know if you've ever heard about that brand but I'm sure you'll be very well informed by searching Mary Kay in the internet. Well there we spent the afternoon Vanessa, Inma (her friend) and I (in the photograph above you can see Vanessa explaining the benefits of those facial creams and Inma's hands, the empty chair on the left of the photograph is where I was sitting). We spent a very nice afternoon, chatting and testing creams. Thanks Vanessa! (I haven't received any money or products for this opinion I only tell you about these products in case you might be interested and due to my friendship with Vanessa).

Ví muchos tutoriales, video tutoriales y me decidí.

Testing lemon cologne: about a month ago I wanted to make my own lemon cologne. I saw many tutorials, video tutorials and I made up my mind. I filled a mason jar with two lemon peel and alcohol and kept it in a cool dark place for 10 days. After those days the alcohol had a yellow colour (lemon colour? Jajaja) and it smelt a little bit like lemon. I added lemon essential oil and made some tests putting a little bit on a kleenex. The result: it didn’t smell too much of lemon and the kleenex turned from white to…….absolutely yellow! Thank God I tested in the kleenex first and not on clothes. Fail!! But I’ll keep on trying ehhh? Do any of you know how to make lemon scented cologne avoiding those mistakes?

Tutorial: Cómo convertir camisetas en cubre pantallas, cómo hacer una hortensia de papel y cómo hacer lirios de agua en tela / Turn shirts into lampshade covers, how to make paper hydrangeas and how to make fabric water lilies

Good friday! another weekend has arrived and for the Valencians today is almost day 1 for the Fallas (those local feast I "love" so much grrr) weeell I'll try to see the positive side of it because during those days I'll have some free afternoons and therefore more free time to make the things I like among them writing and being able to dedicate some time to my abandoned "Irish chain" quilt that I can't even remember the last free moment I had to sew. De blogs, tecnología y comentarios / About blogs, technology and comments

Good morning! Last Monday 3rd March in the post “8 ideas para una casa más auténtica y feliz / 8 ideas for a more authentic joyful home”  someone left an anonymous comment saying the following: “Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and everything. But just imagine if you added some great graphics or videos to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and videos, this blog could definitely be one of the greatest in its niche. Awesome blog!”. And this comment gave me the idea of this post. I’m very grateful for all your comments and especially for the ones expressing constructive opinions. As I replied to my anonymous reader, I wish I knew more “blogging technology” to be able to use it in my blog but I don’t know it and don’t know anyone who could teach it to me (I promise that as soon as I have some free time I’ll try to look for any tutorial).

I love seeing blogs (Spanish or foreign ones) seeing the quality of the photographs, the (usually) well written posts, the time they can dedicate to make crafts and sewing (always many and new ones). I wonder how these blogger women can get so much free time and how they can stretch the 24 hours a day more than most of us can.

In my case I do all my home tasks: do the laundry, shopping, cooking (not much, I confess I don’t like cooking jajaja), ironing, cleaning, etc… all tasks a house (in my case flat) needs; I work five hours/day as a secretary; I teach English 4 or 5 times/week; I look after my elderly parents as much as I can; I handsew some patchwork (whenever I can and have free time); I go to aquagym twice/week in the afternoons after work; on Friday afternoons I have some free time for the blog searching for new tutorials and writing and translating the posts and at the weekends I try to relax and meet friends. It’s difficult to make more of the free time I have.

I daily see other blogs and I say to myself “I could have dealt this topic or the other one” or “this tutorial is great!, I wish I could have imagined it!” but my blog is like my  personal “Speaker’s Corner” (as in Hyde Park in London). For me it is my little space in the blogosphere from where I give you my opinion, my point of view about some topics, where I tell you the things that happen to me or pass through my mind and some of my tutorials and lots (almost all) of other people’s tutorials.

This is a “around-the-house” blog, in it it’s always me (one of my three friends named Mª José told me the first time she visited my blog: “It’s you!, you’re so, you’re like that!”. And if you met me in person you’d realise that I am like you can read me in the blog. I don’t have a team behind me making beautiful photographs (I take the photographs of my tutorials with my mobile), I write the texts, translate them and I do everything. I don’t have any sponsorship, don’t usually take part in other blogs’ activities (because I don’t have more free time). I simply have a blog because I like sharing “the product” of my walks on the internet. I’d like to say thanks to all the people visiting my blog, some of you tell me that although you read it you don’t decide yourselves to make comments, it’s not difficult, you only have to click in Comments at the end of each post and there (choosing for example Anonymous and saying who you are in the comment is enough). I’d like to say thanks especially to Karen of Quilts, etc and to my friend Estrella (Trelli) for their comments (thank you girls!). It’s always very nice to see there are people who might be interested in what I tell you and what I find on the internet. Sorry for this loooong post and thank you very much to all

Crecer es saber despedirse / Growing up is knowing how to say goodbye

www.principiodeuncomienzo.wordpress.com
Good morning! Some days ago, I can’t remember where, I read this quote: “Growing up is knowing how to say goodbye” and it made me think. Saying goodbye to someone is always difficult, at least for me. In my opinion there are two types of farewell: the first one is when the contact/relationship you have with someone finishes and the second one, the saddest, when someone you appreciate/love die. In today’s case I mean the first one.

Just a week ago I said goodbye to someone I have been in touch with for a short but very intense period of time and I would like to dedicate today’s post to him. We often go in and out of other people’s lives as other people go in and out of ours but only some of them leave a mark, big or small, in our lives, because of their kindness, because of their affection, because of how much you have loved them, because of how much they have loved you, for all the good things you’ve received from that person or shared with that person, for many things. Therefore I thank you for all those good things we've shared and for having been able both of us to say goodbye so affectionately wishing each other, sincerely, the best. A hug to you and to all

Good morning and happy monday everybody! we're starting week and almost month. Here in Valencia we're almost in Fallas, our annual local feast days, and the city starts smelling of gunpowder and you can see people wanting to have fun. I come from Valencia, was born in Valencia and all my family comes from and lives in here but I've never liked Fallas (sorry but it's true!). Let's say I don't reject them but I think they're too noisy and crowded for my taste.....anybody living far from Valencia wanting to take me in their home for a few days? jajajaja, just joking!, I'll bear them stoically as every year!. Well but in the meantime why don't we have a look at our own home and see what we have on hand to make it a more authentic and joyful home?. Here you have the link for the original article in English from the web apartmenttherapy.com, I think you might like it. If you are interested about what Fallas are at the end of this post you'll find a link to the wikipedia explaining in English what these local feasts are

Y no olvides tus amigos “peludos”, tus mascotas.
