Good morning and good monday! In different moments I've written here in this blog about my parents who are elderly (83 years old my father and 80 years old my mother) and both have a very weak health condition but it is not about their health or healthwise about what I wanted to talk about today but how sometimes a humour moment during those moments in which health falters changes our attitude to the problem.

The renal specialist had asked my mother to have an abdominal scan so there we were to a hospital to get it done. My mother was a bit afraid if she could have something serious so I tried to "lighten" her being nervous and as she was going to be done an abdominal scan I joked telling her in loud voice: "Mum, now we'll know if the baby who is coming is a boy or a girl". She laughed a little bit and then the doctor turned to my mother, his nurse and me and told me very seriously: "No madam, more important than knowing if your mum is expecting a baby boy or a baby girl is how many babies are coming". We all bursted into laughter and my mother almost couldn't stop laughing. She even replied laughing: "Nooo, I already had two daughters and that's more than enough!". That humour moment made everything so easy that we have remembered that anecdote several times

  1. oh how funny - such a good way to lighten the moment - I do hope all well be well with her, I know my mom gets very nervous going in for medical tests too -- so do I!

    1. I'd already planned that joke as I knew she'd be nervous but what I couldn't imagine is the doctor would "follow" me in the fun moment jajaja. She's in the process, taking pills and we hope things get better. We all get nervous with medical tests, it's our health!!
