 Buen lunes a todos! El 90% de los blogs a los que estoy suscrita son norteamericanos y allí ahora es tiempo de calabazas y preparación de multitud de manualidades, quilts, recetas, etc. relacionadas con Halloween. Tanto las calabazas decoradas, como las manualidades con calabazas y Halloween son tradiciones íntegramente anglosajonas que lentamente se han ido introduciendo en España (desconozco en otros países pero me imagino que habrá ocurrido igual) a pesar de que esas tradiciones anglosajonas nada tienen que ver con nuestra cultura, tradiciones y costumbres.

Good Monday everybody! 90% of the blogs I’m subscribed to are Northamerican and there it’s time of pumpkins and getting ready different crafts, quilts, recipes, etc. related with Halloween. Carved pumpkins, pumpkin crafts and Halloween are entirely Anglo-Saxon traditions which have been slowly initiated in Spain (I don’t know about other countries but I guess it’ll have happened the same) despite of those Anglo-Saxon traditions nothing have to do with our culture, traditions and customs.

 

 Aquí en España la calabaza se suele consumir simplemente asada y se puede comprar en fruterías y panaderías pero ni se talla ni se decora con velas ni se utiliza como decoración. Con respecto a Halloween, en los países anglosajones se contempla como una fiesta una tradición totalmente diferente a la tradición española. En mi país el día 1 de Noviembre es “Todos los Santos” día festivo que se dedica a recordar a las personas queridas que ya desaparecieron llevándoles flores al cementerio y rezando por ellos por lo que lejos de ser un día alegre es un día de reflexión y recuerdo. ¿Pero qué ha ocurrido en España? Muy fácil. El cementerio, las flores, la reflexión y el recuerdo de las personas queridas no es negocio, no produce beneficio económico (excepto para las tiendas de flores) y sí organizar fiestas de Halloween, la venta o alquiler de disfraces, etc.. así que la gente se ha lanzado a celebrar una tradición que no nos pertenece.

 

Here in Spain pumpkins are usually eaten simply baked and it can be bought in vegetable/fruit shops or in bakeries but they are neither carved or decorated with candles nor used in decorations. Related with Halloween, in the Anglo-Saxon countries it is a festive day, a completely different tradition in the Spanish traditions. In my country 1st November is “All Saints Day” a feast day dedicated to remember the loved ones who passed away bringing them flowers to the cemetery and praying for them so far from being a festive day it’s a day to think of and remember. But what has happened in Spain? Very easy. The cemetery, the flowers, the thoughts about and the memories of the loved ones aren’t business, it doesn’t mean an economic benefit (except for the flower shops) and it is organising Halloween parties, the sale and rent of Halloween costumes, etc. so people here in my country celebrates a tradition which simply is not ours.

 

 Me parece triste que un único día al año en el que una persona puede dedicarlo a recordar (aunque sea por unas horas) a los seres queridos prefiera seguir una costumbre que nos es ajena. Yo no estoy en contra ni de las calabazas (la calabaza asada me encantaaa) ni de Halloween (aunque nunca lo he celebrado) pero espero que los que tenemos otra cultura diferente a la anglosajona aprendamos a defender lo nuestro y sigamos manteniendo nuestras propias tradiciones. I find quite sad that the only one day in the year that a person can dedicate to remember (at least for some hours) to the loved ones prefers to follow a foreign custom. I’m not against neither pumpkins (I loooove baked pumpkin) nor Halloween (although I’ve never celebrated it) but I hope that the countries with different traditions from the Anglo-Saxon ones learn to defend ours and keep them. Buenos días y buen viernes a todos!. Un nuevo tutorial para vosotros de la web hellolucky.com: un bol hecho de hojas. Ahora que ya hemos entrado en el otoño es una manualidad que podéis hacer reciclando o comprando, según podáis encontrar donde viváis hojas que ya hayan caído de los árboles o prefiráis comprarlas en alguna tienda. Sólo necesitáis: hojas, modge podge ó una mezcla de cola blanca y agua (la opción más barata), un pincel de foam (los tenéis también baratitos), un globo, tijeras y un bol. Maaaany years ago I knew about Laura Ashley brand but only of clothes, I didn't know they also had a decor department and then I saw, in another blog, a link to the catalogue and saw so many decor elements that could be seen, buy or where you could get so many ideas that I enjoy to see a lot. It's a long catalogue, but although you wouldn't like to see it all I know you'll like it due to the style and good taste it has. Esos bañadores masculinos…..¡y femeninos! / Those men swimsuits…..and women’s!

 

Buenos días, buen lunes y feliz otoño! ¿Quién de vosotr@s no ha visto este verano el tipo de bañadores masculinos que podéis ver en la primera foto?. Levantad la manoooo, que estoy segura que este verano habréis visto a más de uno luciendo estos bañadores en la playa y en la piscina. Pero la razón para escribir este post no es el bañador en sí sino la edad de los que lo llevaban, ahí, ahí está el quid de la cuestión.

Raise your haaaaands, that I’m sure this summer you have seen more than one dressed in these swimsuits in the beach or in the pool. But the reason for writing this post is not the swimsuit itself but the age of the ones wearing them, there, there is the heart of the matter.

Soy de la opinión que tanto en bañadores masculinos como femeninos (aunque respecto a los femeninos me refiera más propiamente al bikini) siempre hay una edad a partir de la cual la discreción debería primar. Los bañadores masculinos, como el de la foto de arriba, son más propios de deportistas que de cincuentones y sesentones….o de más edad empeñados en llevarlos. Señores, la fuerza de la gravedad no afecta únicamente a las mujeres también a ustedes y todo lo terso cae. ¿No se sentirían ustedes un poquito más cómodos, por así decirlo, llevando otro tipo de bañadores como el de más abajo por ej?

 

My personal opinion about men and women swimsuits (although about the women’s I’m refering to the bikinis) there’s always an age since the discretion should come first. Men swimsuits, like the one in the photograph above, are more suitable for sportmen than for men in their fifty-something or sixty-something….or even older men insisting on wearing them. Gentlemen, women are not the only ones to whom the gravity concerns it concerns to you too and all smooth parts of the body drop down. Wouldn’t you feel a little more comfy wearing another kind of swimsuits like the one below, for example?

y de paso no sería tan evidente lo ingrata que puede llegar a ser la Madre Naturaleza cuando uno/a va cumpliendo años. Y lo mismo ocurre en el sector femenino con los bikinis. Creo que hay una edad para llevarlos y una edad a partir de la cual sería mejor dejar de llevarlos por la misma razón que los hombres: la fuerza de la gravedad y la edad. ¿Qué opináis? ¿estáis de acuerdo? ¿no lo estáis? and incidentally it wouldn’t be so evidente how unrewarding Mother Nature can become after each one’s birthday. And it happens the same in the women’s side related to bikinis. I think there is an age when one woman can wear them and an age from which it’d be better not to wear them for the same reason than the men: gravity and the age. What do you think? Do yo agree? Buenos días y buen tutorial viernes! hoy empiezo a poneros tutoriales de otras personas o webs que encuentro a diario en la blogosfera y que me parecen curiosos y/o fáciles de hacer. El de hoy es una especie de joyero abierto reciclado de unas botellas de plástico hecho por epbot.com. Está en inglés pero el paso a paso fotográfico está tan claro que no os hará falta traducir nada. Decidiros a hacerlo y en un ratito tendréis un joyero por el módico precio de casi nada. Aparte de hacerlo tal cual os lo ponen en el tutorial se me ocurre también que podéis pintarlo con spray y darle un toque diferente o incluso haciéndole decoupage. ¿Cuánta información personal se puede dar en un blog? / How much personal information can be given in a blog?

Buenos días y buen miércoles a todos!. A diario suelo leer diferentes blogs de personas de diferentes países y me gusta leer lo que cuentan acerca de sus vidas y de sus países porque esa información me ayuda a conocer otras culturas y otras formas de vivir pero, en mi opinión, siempre debe primar la privacidad y la seguridad. En una ocasión recuerdo que una bloguera europea (no diré el país por discreción) daba una cantidad de información sobre sí misma que me asombró. Ella decía que vivía en un pequeño pueblo de su país (daba todo tipo de nombres y detalles), fotografías de la calle donde vivía y de su casa y además comentaba que por la profesión de su marido pasaba mucho tiempo sola en casa. Yo no daba crédito a lo que leía. El blog al que me refiero es de costura y bordado. Estos blogs suelen ser vistos, en su mayoría, por mujeres y estoy convencida de que ninguna va a cometer la tontería de ir a aquel país para hacerle nada malo a la señora en cuestión pero lo cierto es que tanta información raya la imprudencia. Está claro que todos somos libres de proporcionar a la blogosfera cuantos datos personales consideremos oportunos pero aunque cada cual pueda tener su criterio ahí se abre la cuestión: ¿cuánta información personal se puede dar en un blog? ¿Qué opináis?. Good morning and good Wednesday everybody!. I daily read different blogs of people from different countries and I like reading what they tell about their lives and about their countries because that information allows me to know other cultures and ways of living but, in my opinion, privacy and safety have always priority. I remember once reading a European blog (I tactfully won’t say the country) in which the blogger was giving so much information about herself that I was amazed. She said she was living in a small village of her country (she gave all names and details), photographs or the street where she was living, photographs of her home and she even told that, due to her husband’s job, she spent most of the time alone at home. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. The blog I refer is about sewing and embroidery. These blogs are usually visited by women and I'm convinced of any woman is going to make the mistake of going to that country and do any harm to the lady I’m writing about but the truth is such amount of information verges on the carelessness. It’s clear that we all are free to give to the blogosphere as many or as few personal information as we consider appropiate but although each of us can have their own view about this there is the question: how much personal information can anyone give in a blog? Empecemos un nuevo curso/ Let's start a new year

Good morning and good Monday! How about your weekend? I hope you’ve had a nice one.

Los niños valencianos (no sé si también en otras ciudades) empezaron el nuevo curso hace una semana. Comenzar un nuevo curso siempre lleva cambios, esa sensación de nuevo (nuevos libros, nuevo profe, nuevos compas de clase, etc). Y aunque los que me leéis sois adultos y no empezamos cole ninguno creo buena idea contagiarnos un poco de esa idea y darle un aire distinto al blog. A diario recibo, via correos de mis contactos de hotmail o via los blogs que consulto o estoy suscrita, muchos tutoriales, ideas curiosas, propuestas, videos, etc. que suelo reenviar al resto de mis contactos y que a partir de ahora compartiré también con vosotros. La verdad es que cada día me maravilla más la creatividad e ingenio que encuentro en la blogosfera, ¡es impresionante!. Continuaré posteando lunes, miércoles y viernes (como desde finales de Abril cuando empecé este blog) y lo más probable es que los viernes sean de manera permanente los días Tutorial pero a partir de ahora la mayor parte de los tutoriales serán de otras personas (seguiré poniendo también mis propios tutoriales pero no cada semana). Respecto a los lunes y miércoles, iré variando: un tema, alguna canción, algo curioso para que podáis ver o leer, etc. Veréis qué cosas más chulas estoy recopilando para poneros aquí, creo que os gustarán. Ah! dos cositas más: si queréis hacer una sugerencia o comentario de algo que os gustaría ver reflejado aquí o algo que creéis sería buena idea cambiar ya sabéis que más abajo en comentarios me encantará leerlo y la segunda cosita es que si os apetece suscribiros al blog para no perderos ni un post ya sabéis que podéis hacerlo tecleando vuestro correo electrónico en la ventanita "Sígueme por mail" que podéis ver a la derecha. Valencian children (I don’t know about other cities) started the new school year last week. Starting a new school year always means changes, that feeling of new (new books, new teacher, new school mates, etc.). And although you people who read me are adults and we aren’t starting a new school year I think a good idea to pass on that feeling to the blog. I daily receive mails, via mi hotmail list or via the blogs I check or I’m suscribed, many tutorials, curious ideas, suggestions, videos, etc. that I usually resend to the rest of my hotmail list and from now on I’ll share them with you too. The truth is that each day I wonder of all creativity and inventiveness that I find in the blogosphere, amazing!. I’ll keep on posting Monday, Wednesday and Friday (as I’m doing since the end of April when I started this blog) and Fridays will probably be a fixed day for Tutorials but from now on most of them will be from other people (I’ll post my own tutorials too but not every week). About Mondays and Wednesdays, it’ll change: a topic, a song, something curious for you to see or read, etc. You’ll see the so beautiful things I’m compiling to share them with you, I think you’ll like it too. Ah! two more things: if you want to make a suggestions or comment of anything you'd like to see here or something that would be a good idea to change you know that below you've got Comments and I'd love to read them and the second thing is that if you'd like to subscribe to the blog for not missing any post you know you can do it typing your mail in "Follow by mail" that you can see on the right.
